Brahmanbaria, city in eastern Bangladesh, 75 km (47 mi) northeast of Dhaka, the nation’s capital. The Meghna River is 13 km (8 mi) west of the city. Brahmanbaria is nationally famous as a trading center of cattle, milk, and high-quality milk products. It is connected by road, river, and rail with Dhaka and all other major cities in Bangladesh. There are two colleges and two vocational institutes in the city. Population (1991) 125,116.
